FOR the people of Newcastle who have seen their eco-rich wetlands on Kooragang Island rapidly transformed into a coal dump, I believe developer Jeff McCloy’s idea of screening it out of sight with exotic bamboo just adds insult to injury.
Which company would pay to control the run-away weed in sensitive areas?
A further insult is calling this a ‘‘green corridor’’, which I believe is an erroneous use of the term. A ‘‘green corridor’’ means a habitat corridor that might assist native species to survive factors such as climate change and overdevelopment.
I think Mr McCloy knows about overdevelopment and pretends climate change doesn’t exist.
Ridiculous.
