Woman flown to hospital after horse riding incident

AN 18-year-old woman was flown to hospital with serious chest injuries this afternoon after she was thrown from a horse south of Catherine Hill Bay.

The Nords Wharf woman was riding a horse on on Moonee Beach about 3pm when she was thrown into the water.

Early reports suggest the horse kicked her in the chest as she fell.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service flew the woman to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Man hit by train at Scone

A 30-year-old man is in a serious condition in John Hunter Hospital after he was hit by a train at Scone early this morning.

The man was reportedly walking along the town’s railway line when the train struck him about 1.30am.

He was flown in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital with serious leg and head injuries.
