Two men critically injured in Budgewoi street fight

Two men remain in hospital in critical conditions after being stabbed during a fight at Budgewoi last night.

About 10.40pm police were called to Scenic Drive following reports of a group of men fighting.

It is believed a number of men were involved in a fight in the street resulting in two men being stabbed.

Their attackers then fled the scene in a number of vehicles which were last seen heading towards the Doyalson area.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and three men were taken by ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

A 27-year-old man is receiving treatment for stab wounds to his arm and stomach while a 48-year-old man is receiving treatment for stab wounds to his back.

A third man, aged 44, was also taken to hospital for treatment of lacerations to his head.

A crime scene has been established at Scenic Drive with the road closed between Sonoma and Hulani Street.

Police are warning motorists that Scenic Drive will remain closed for some time while examinations of the scene are conducted. Local diversions are in place.

Detectives from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad, are investigating the stabbings and any links to Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
