NEWCASTLE police are looking for a man who fled the scene of an attempted armed hold-up at Shortland on a pushbike.
The man is accused of holding up a service station on Sandgate Road, Shortland, at 7.30pm last night.
He allegedly threatened the male attendant with a knife.
After the attendant refused, the man fled the store empty-handed.
He was last seen riding a pushbike along Sandgate road.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the male involved, to come forward.
He was described as being of medium build and wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit pants.
