Do you have a smart idea?

IF you’ve got a bright idea for a service or product to benefit the Hunter, the Smart Ideas competition is now open for business.

The competition is held in conjunction with the Hunter Innovation Festival.

Festival host Christina Gerakiteys said good ideas often started at home, with many inventors not realising their potential.

Entries may be via a written submission or video. Written entries must be 500 words or less, and accompanied by an illustration or photographs. Video entries must be no longer than 3 minutes.

The winner receives a $1000 cash prize and a $1000 mentoring package from Hunter Founders Forum and the Business Centre Newcastle Region.

The top three ideas, selected by our panel, will be asked to make a 90 second presentation to the Hunter Innovation Festival breakfast launch in June, and the winner will be announced at the Smart Ideas breakfast.

Email Smart Idea competition entries to online.media@theherald.com.au. Videos can be emailed or brought in to the Newcastle Herald offices at 28 Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle.

The competition closes at 5pm on June 1.
