Hamilton South man in hospital after snake bite

A man is in hospital after a reported snake bite in Hamilton South early this morning.

An Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the Fowler Street address about 1am when the man suffered an injury putting his garbage outside.

The spokeswoman said the initial report was that a snake had bitten the man but the species was unconfirmed.

The 51-year-old was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
