POLICE are appealing for information after a man attempted to drag a nine-year-old boy into a car at Lake Munmorah.
About 6.10pm on Tuesday the young boy was walking alone along Acacia Avenue when a car stopped in front of him. The passenger door opened and the driver reached out and grabbed the boy's arm.
The driver told the boy to get into the car and pulled him towards the vehicle.
The child managed to break free and the car sped away towards Doyalson, nearly colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Queen Street.
The vehicle was described as a white single-cab utility with pink registration plates and white letters. It also had white horn stickers on the rear window and the aluminium tray had no sides or rear gate.
The man was described as about 30 years old, 170 to 175cm tall with a slim build. He had dark, long hair, a mole on his left cheek and possibly rotten teeth. He was wearing a black and white diagonally striped shirt and long pants, possibly with red flames on the upper legs.
Police would also like to speak to the driver of the car that narrowly missed colliding with the utility. Police were told it was a red sedan that was being driven by a woman.
