The Black Keys opened their Australian tour at Newcastle Entertainment Centre last night.
The tour marks the biggest Australian shows yet for singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney.
The American rock duo are performing in larger venues, and their show features huge visuals from 20 projectors and giant mirror balls.
The Black Keys performed at the Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle, in March 2005, and returned for Groovin’ the Moo in 2007.
More recently they visited for a headline show at Newcastle Panthers in 2009.
Last night they performed hits from their album El Camino, including Lonely Boy and Gold on the Ceiling.
They perform in Sydney tonight and in Brisbane on Friday.
