Power lines down, fences damaged as wind whips Hunter 

Emergency services have been kept busy across the Hunter this afternoon because of high winds.

Firefighters have responding to a number of incidents involving downed power lines in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle area.

There are also reports of a large fence blown over in Wallsend.

The State Emergency Service has had around 60 call outs in the Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued gale wind warning for NSW waters between Point Danger and Smoky Cape with predicted southerly winds up 40 knots.
