A MAN allegedly found with nearly half a kilogram of cocaine during a traffic stop at Charlestown has been refused bail in Newcastle Local Court.
Jarrod James Coughtrie, 30, appeared in court on Friday charged with the deemed supply of a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug after police allegedly found cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000 in his car on Thursday.
He applied for bail, but it was refused by Magistrate Les Brennan.
The matter was adjourned to November 16.
Lake Macquarie police say they were patrolling Dudley Road at Charlestown about 2pm on Thursday when they stopped and searched a car.
According to court documents, 428.92 grams of a white substance, believed to be cocaine, was found inside the vehicle.
Mr Coughtrie was arrested and charged.
