A severe fire warning has been issued for the Hunter with hot north-west to north-easterly winds expected tomorrow.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting warm winds followed by a cooler southerly change late on Thursday.
The warning has been issued for parts of the Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra.
The NSW Rural Fire Service has warned that any bushfire has the potential to threaten lives and destroy homes.
THE RFS is advising residents to check their bushfire survival plan, monitor the fire and weather situation and call triple zero if they see a fire.
There is a total fire ban in the Hunter tomorrow.
