CANTEEN’s major national event, Bandanna Day, will take place today.
CanTeen is the only national charity dedicated to cancer and hopes to raise $2 million this year.
The funds will be used to support general operations, and provide counselling services specifically for young people.
CanTeen chief executive officer Peter Orchard said the charity helped young people cope with the transitions and uncertainty caused by cancer diagnoses.
‘‘Young people learn how to deal with living with cancer, whether it is their own cancer or that of a parent, brother or sister, or if they are dealing with the death of someone close to them,” Mr Orchard said.
CanTeen merchandise will be on sale in October in supermarkets and street stalls.
