A Newcastle man will apply for bail next week after he was arrested and charged with stabbing a man because of an alleged dispute over stolen meat.
The alleged victim, 47, was taken to hospital about 9.45pm last night after he was stabbed in the torso, but he later discharged himself, police said.
Trevor Scott Besgrove, 40, of King Street, was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
He did not enter a plea and did not apply for bail in Newcastle Local Court today.
He will make an application for bail next week, the court heard.
