Mayfield’s Rob Elsley has claimed back-to-back Newcastle Open Snooker Championship titles after defeating Coffs Harbour’s Michael Cosh in the decider at Belmont 16s on Sunday.
Elsley won the best-of-seven frames final 4-0 over the former Welsh under-21 champion.
The winner conceded only four points throughout his four preliminary outings, which started on Saturday.
Cosh earlier made a tournament-high break of 98.
“It was well supported event at both locations [Belmont and Wangi Workers Club],” competition organiser and Newcastle District Billiards and Snooker Association committee member Steve Briant said.
“It proves there is still a future in the game here.”
