Maitland-Newcastle diocese primary school students selected for Polding summer sport trials

The diocesan primary schools summer sport trials were held across four codes last Friday with successful students to attend Polding carnivals in February.

Making the cricket cut was Jordan Pitt (Gateshead), Patrick Webber, Patrick Duffy (Merewether), Lachlan Clydesdale (Scone), Joseph Drury (Singleton), William Devine (Mayfield) and Thomas Thorpe (Chisholm). For the girls Jasmine Alston (Merewether) and Tess Peel (Branxton) were picked.

In tennis Kaleb Smith (Morisset), Bailey Woolfe (Warners Bay), Jordan Matuszny-Santana (Forster) and Jarrod Inglis (East Maitland) make up the boys team. Andrea Flores (Forster), Ruby Pinter (Lochinvar), Paige Stalling and Alexandra Reilly (Warners Bay) are in the girls squad.

In softball Lewis Faulkner (Raymond Terrace), William Balkin (Waratah), Jacob King (Taree), Zachariah Boas and Rhiannon Jones (Singleton) all progress.

In basketball two squads of eight players were announced with Taree and Cessnock dominating.

Hope White, Phoebe Montgomery (Maitland), Larni Gaylor (Warners Bay), Saffron Shiels (Gateshead), Mariah Radburn, Amarley Bron, Kirra Simon (Taree) and Sienna Hill (Merewether) were named in the girls group. For the boys Charlie Caffery (East Maitland), Jeremy Kennedy (Morisset), Xavier Wills, Lachlan Wills, Kane Gilmore (Cessnock), Darby Hepple, Oliver Watkins (New Lambton) and Lachlan Kelly (Forster) were the boys selected.
