Wangi RSL will also ring in the new year  with front-row seats to the only live fireworks display on the lake.

“There will literally be thousands of people on the shore and in boats to witness the annual spectacular,”  operations manager Angela Sanders said.

“It’s an amazing event and tradition, brought about by the local community and businesses who contribute to the Fireworks donation fund, which Wangi RSL proudly administers.”

The club has undergone quite a transformation in the last twelve months.

Facing an uncertain future three years ago, community, club members and staff partnered up to give the club a facelift in facilities and format.

Modern stylish indoor and outdoor furniture were installed to enhance the decor and take advantage of the view.

A new kitchen with new caterers boasting extensive experience in food and hospitality have provided eating facilities the envy of the Hunter, highlighted by a delicious all-you-can eat buffet each Thursday starting December 15 and running throughout the Christmas holiday period.

And a revamped entertainment schedule is bringing patrons the hottest acts in club land week in week out, including a popular cabaret every second Tuesday of the month.

“Our first cabaret in October sold 66 tickets, the second cabaret in November sold 156, and we are already up to 100 tickets for the Christmas cabaret,” Mrs Sanders said.

Wangi RSL’s function room rates will also impress with their value-for-money options. Function co-ordinators are available to consult for your special events.

“The changes we have achieved  with very little money to improve the club, bar, poker machines and food  have been amazing,” Mrs Sanders said. “The future is bright  and this Christmas/New Year we want people to share our little secret.”

Wangi RSL is located at 275 Watkins Road Wangi Wangi and open daily from 10am. For more information ring (02) 4975 1433 or visit www.wangirsl.com.au.
