At Lifestyle Solutions the focus is on helping to develop understanding and appreciation for the positive contributions that people with a disability make to our communities.

Every day they work with people who, through courage and determination, push their personal boundaries to challenge the stereotypes around what people think they can achieve.

International Day of People with Disability celebrates their triumphs and so does Lifestyle Solutions.

“We don’t want to see anyone defined by their disability,” said Nicole Long, Lifestyle Solutions’ General Manager Disabilities.

"We want to see them recognised for their abilities.

“As a community, we need to work collaboratively to break down the barriers that limit opportunities and exclude some people from housing, education, employment, mobility and social interaction.”

Lifestyle Solutions has been a strong advocate for improving social inclusion and outcomes for people with disability since they established their first group home in Newcastle in 2002.

“Across the Hunter and Central Coast regions we provide over 38 accommodation services ranging from high complex medical needs through to drop-in support,” Ms Long said.

“Our services provide support to people with a disability who live independently in the community but who may require assistance to build on their capacity and skills with everyday tasks.

“We also provide support coordination and individual supports that give people choice and control over their NDIS funding.

“We have an established record for helping those we support, who access assistance through the Scheme, to achieve their goals through positive outcomes.”

Lifestyle Solutions’ Community Hubs give people with disability a positive environment in which to develop new and lasting friendships and engage in activities that reflect their goals.

“We’ve built our reputation on being a responsive and proactive service provider,”  Ms Long said.

“Our innovative programs help people to engage with their community in meaningful ways and we encourage people to drive their own decision making.”
