High Street will close to eastbound traffic between Belmore Road and just west of Church Street, while westbound traffic will also be blocked between Church Street and Little Hunter Street. Egress to Belmore Road will be maintained through Little Hunter Street.
St Andrews Street will close from the riverbank to north of the St Andrew’s Street car park.
Stillsbury Lane will also be closed from High Street.

Trains Wickham and Civic stations will close from 6pm New Year’s Eve until 4am New Year’s Day.
Saturday timetable on New Year’s Eve with extra services through the Hunter and Sydney.
Additional trains will also run between Newcastle and Telarah, and to the Central Coast after the 9pm and midnight fireworks.
Passengers are reminded alcohol is not permitted on trains.
Trains will leave at least every hour from Newcastle to Central Station on Saturday afternoon.
The last trains leaving Central for Newcastle and the Central Coast depart at 3.15am and 4.45am on New Year’s Day;
Buses and Ferries: Newcastle Buses and Ferries will operate to an augmented Saturday timetable on New Year’s Eve and a Sunday timetable on New Year’s Day, with an extra 32 services running. They will be added on the 100, 104, 118, 222, 224, 230, 226, 310, 317, 322, 334, 349, 350 and 363 routes between 9pm New Year’s Eve and 3am New Year’s Day.
Ferries will also run extra services during this period; Newcastle Buses will depart and terminate on Scott Street near the Great Northern Hotel, with other buses running from Watt Street.
