THE restart of Orica’s Kooragang Island ammonia plant has been delayed due to problems with equipment.
Orica chief executive Graeme Liebelt said the company was not satisfied with the performance of one of the plant’s compressors.
The plant would not reopen until the equipment was performing properly.
‘‘Restarting a plant of this type involves a number of important steps and we are completing each step systematically and without compromise,’’ Mr Liebelt said.
The restart process, which started on January 3, has been progressing at a ‘‘cautious pace’’, he added.
