Today Sunnyfield proudly celebrates 65 years of providing leading disability services to individuals, in conjunction with families, carers and local communities throughout NSW and the ACT.
“We are extremely proud of Sunnyfield’s history and its humble beginnings,” Sunnyfield chief executive officer Caroline Cuddihy said,
“Our 65th anniversary is a day where we acknowledge our history and shine a light on an extraordinary group of mothers, led by Hazel Whiddon, who in 1952 advocated for equal rights and opportunities and first thought there had to be a better future for their children.
“It is also a time to celebrate and extend our appreciation to Sunnyfield’s members, families, volunteers, donors, supporters, staff members and the people we serve, as part of the Sunnyfield community.”
Over the past year, Sunnyfield has opened three new community service hubs, expanded its shared living services, invested in a million dollar upgrade of their three Sunnyfield Enterprises facilities; introduced an innovative vacation care program during holidays for school-aged children, supported over 150 shared living residents and their families and carers with preparations for their NDIS transition, and implemented accredited training courses for people with disability to continue building bright futures.
“We are united by our passion to deliver greater and equal opportunities for people with disability to engage in a life of their choosing and Sunnyfield looks forward to continuing the journey of creating bright futures”, Ms Cuddihy said.
As Sunnyfield moves ahead, it remains committed to provide high quality trusted services, of choice, enabling a good life for clients and their families and carers.
