THERE'S a free show on tonight, but the pub is tight-lipped about who will take the stage.
The act remains a closely-guarded secret, with the biggest hint that they are an Australian band who have not played for several years.
The Cambridge Hotel offered free entry for punters who pre-registered to attend.
Registrations are closed, with doors open from 8pm.
Punters registered for the free show, with the venue advising that capacity was limited and spots would be first come, first served.
Late on Thursday afternoon the pub dropped another hint on social media – that the mystery group had no drummer.
That led many to speculate dance duo Pnau would bring their hits, including Embrace and Wild Strawberries, to the stage.
Other guesses included Silverchair, Powderfinger, Wolfmother and even stadium-stacking Adele.
The Pnau theory, by far the most popular on Thursday afternoon, holds water or, perhaps more appropriately, wine.
The group is slated to play the Hunter this weekend as part of the Hot Dub Wine Machine concert, billed as Pnau’s first Australian performances in five years.
