Teenager critical after Cessnock crash

AN 18-year-old man was flown to John Hunter Hospital on Sunday after suffering multiple injuries in a crash on Mount View Road, Cessnock.

The man was believed to be the sole occupant of the car when it left the road and hit a tree before 1pm on Sunday.

He was trapped in the vehicle for an hour before being flown by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital. He was listed in a critical condition on Sunday night.

The accident came after senior police on Friday pleaded with motorists to take extra care on Hunter roads following the deaths of three men in the space of 24 hours.

On Thursday night, a 47-year-old male motorbike rider sustained fatal head injuries in a two vehicle accident in Woodville.

Bulga father Patrick Magin was also killed on Thursday, as he dropped his daughter to school on Mitchell Line Road at Whittingham.

Rutherford teenager Tim Cox died on Old Maitland Road at Bishops Bridge after crashing into a power pole on Wednesday night.
