Shine your shoes and put your glad rags on – the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival is on this weekend.
The annual celebration of all things ‘50s and ‘60s will kick off on Friday afternoon with a high tea and retro fashion parade at Kurri Kurri High School.
The school’s hospitality students will cater for the event, and entertainment will be provided by dance and music students.
This year’s fashion parade will be run by Number 9 Fashions, who will hold a pop-up shop at the high tea if anyone needs to grab an outfit for the festival.
There will a family fun night in Rotary Park on Friday night, followed by welcome dances at Kurri and Weston Workers Clubs.
Rotary Park will be transformed into a retro marketplace on Saturday and Sunday, while its surrounding streets become a car lovers’ paradise lined with hundreds of classic and vintage vehicles.
There will be nostalgia-themed food stalls, a sideshow alley, dance floors, fashion parades and entertainment all weekend.
Popular rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll acts will perform at venues including Weston Workers Club, Kurri Workers Club, Kurri Bowling Club, Kurri TAFE and Richmond Vale Railway Museum over the three days.
Tickets for the high tea, shows and dances are available from Kurri Kurri Visitor Centre on 4936 1909.
