Help provide a tomorrow
TOMORROW, When The War Began hottie Phoebe Tonkin is probably best known for kicking butt, thanks to her most recent on-screen role.
But the actress will be showing a softer side this weekend at Stockland Jesmond in an effort to lend a helping hand to two sick teenaged girls from Pelican.
Leanna, 15, and Bethany, 13, Mills have been diagnosed with a rare, progressive and degenerative neurological disorder. There is no known cure and treatment is severe and often debilitating.
Tonkin will be at Stockland Jesmond on Sunday between 1pm and 2pm signing autographs for a small donation. All money raised will go to helping Bethany and Leanna.
The girls’ mother Michelle said she was moved by the number of people, including the Tomorrow star, who had rallied around.
‘‘While Bethany still needs around-the-clock care, Leanna, is not doing very well at all. She’s in a lot of pain and it’s difficult for her to eat,’’ she said.
‘‘We’re afraid that unless we get some help soon, one day, a fall will cause her serious and irreversible damage.’’
