Knights star Dane Gagai will shift to fullback in one of several changes to coach Nathan Brown’s squad for Sunday’s clash with the Canberra Raiders at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The off-contract Queensland origin representative replaces Brendan Elliot, who wasn’t named in the final 17 an hour before kick-off.

Gagai will be covered in the centres by English import Joe Wardle, who comes off the bench. Back-up hooker Tyler Randall is now one of the four interchange players.

Junior Kanagaroos second-rower Sam Stone wasn’t selected with Lachlan Fitzgibbon called into the starting side.

Jack Stockwell was this week dropped to reserve grade, joining Trent Hodkinson and Pauli Pauli, and the Knights upset Mounties 24-18 at Cessnock Sportsground on Saturday.

The Indigenous round fixture starts at 2pm.
