Valentine have been one of the success stories of the Northern NSW NPL this season and sit fourth despite a 1-0 loss to Edgeworth on Sunday.

Coach Darren Sills, though, was on guard for the Suns while weighing up his line-up and an injury to his in-form American frontman.

“Jalon’s got an ankle injury and he’s out for tomorrow night and in doubt for the weekend,” Sills said.

“He’s done it once before in the States and had a cortisone through it, so we’ll see how he goes with physio.

“It will be interesting to see how we go because we’re a bit skinny up front.”

The Suns lead the third tier of NNSW Football with a squad including three-time state league leading scorer John Majurovski, ex-AIS scholarship player Kevin Davison and Alex, Aiden, Daniel and Andrew Palozzi. Sills said James Kline was another quality player at the Suns. More FFA Cup news, P37

** Two injury-time goals from Tye Jones gave West Wallsend a miraculous 2-1 win over Cessnock City in round 11 of Northern League One on the weekend.

Thornton Redbacks’ Nathan McAllister extended his edge in the leading goalscorer race to three goals with his 12th and 13th of the season in a 3-1 win over Belmont Swansea.

Alex Ihlow scored three goals for New Lambton but it was not enough to topple leaders Cooks Hill, who won 5-4. South Cardiff beat Singleton 3-1 and Wallsend upset Kahibah 1-0.
