A family open day will be held on August 27 to mark the opening of the new Nelson Bay Golf Course clubhouse.
The original clubhouse burnt down in a devastating fire on Fathers Day 2015.
“The temporary clubhouse has served us well, but it will be great to get into the new facility,” club spokesperson Nataiie Kelly said.
“The open day will be an opportunity for the public to celebrate the rebirth of a Nelson Bay icon, introduce new facilities and advertise the big Pro-Am we’re holding in early September.”
Construction of the new purpose built clubhouse was overseen by local companies EJE Archictects, Coffey Project Managers and Club Projects builders.
It houses a bar, sports bar, cafe lounge, dedicated kids area and Bluewater Grill with 180 degree views over the 27-hole championship course and surrounding national park.
The new function room has its own dedicated bar and separate entrance and can seat up to 200 people.
“We’ve built a wedding ceremony site behind the 20th tee and we’ll be pushing the Club as a venue for weddings, functions, conferences and events,” Natalie said.
“These new business streams will complement our weekly entertainment of live music, joker poker, trivia, poker and raffles.”
The board and volunteers are rightly proud of what they’ve achieved, but the journey doesn’t end there.
“On Thursday, September 7 we’ll be running a $11,000 pro-am as part of the Newcastle Central Coast Circuit,” Natalie said.
”We also sponsor seven charity golf days and we’ll be looking at other ways we can give back to the Bay.
“We’re increasing the workforce, providing career opportunities for green staff, those who work in food and beverage, admin and school work experience.
“We’ll be actively involved in events like Taste of the Bay, the June Music Festival and we’re sponsoring local sporting clubs like the Marlins AFL team.”
