Two injured in three-vehicle crash

A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a crash this morning at North Rothbury involving a car and two trucks.

Police from the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit are travelling to the scene, on Wine Country Drive, to investigate the circumstances of the crash, which occurred about 7.30am.

A man and a woman travelling in the car were trapped for about 30 minutes this morning until freed by rescuers.

The man was treated on scene and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The woman, whose age and specific injuries are not known, was considered more seriously injured and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter.

Wine Country Drive has been reopened to traffic after being blocked in both directions.
