ENSEMBLES made from enviro bags and aliens made from aluminium foil were among the clover-coloured creations yesterday at Lambton High.

More than 1200 students from the school dressed in jade to jungle green for the school’s annual Green Day.

The day, now in its 11th year, aims to promote environmental awareness and raise money to rehabilitate the school grounds.

The highlight of the event is a fashion parade. Yesterday students dressed as zombies, leprechauns, an oompa-loompa, green bins, green bags and even a green Teletubbie.

Organiser, year 12 student Jessica Provost, said this year the theme was ‘‘Tree on!’’ to coincide with the United Nations International Year of Forests.

The school’s service volunteers helped organise the day, which included green food stalls and an eco-friendly art exhibition.

‘‘Forests are vital because they provide oxygen so we need to sustainably manage them,’’ Ms Provost said.
