Man charged with attempting to set fire to The Entrance police station

A MAN who allegedly tried to burn down a police station ill face court on Wednesday.

Police will allege they spotted the man, 25, walking towards The Entrance police station about 12pm on Tuesday carrying a wine bottle filled with petrol. 

He was observed pouring the liquid around the entrance and attempting to ignite it with a cigarette lighter. 

Officers chased the man, using OC spray to detain him after he allegedly refused to drop the lighter. 

Police arrested the man and charged with with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and resisting an officer. 

He was refused bail to face Wyong Local Court. 

Police are appealing for information but do not believe the incident was terror-related.
