A 97-year-old Redhead man will face domestic violence charges after his wife, 80, suffered multiple fractures overnight.
Police and paramedics were called to Kerle Street at Redhead about 7pm on Wednesday after reports a woman was injured.
It is alleged the man pushed the woman during an argument, causing her to fall.
She was taken to John Hunter Hospital to receive treatment for a fractured leg, fractured neck and facial injuries.
Lake Macquarie police arrested the man, taking him to Belmont police station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and served with an apprehended violence order (AVO).
He received conditional bail to face Belmont Local Court on July 3.
