Samaritans disability services are innovative and personalised, offering voice, choice and control to help individuals achieve their dreams.
As a registered and experienced service provider of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Samaritans is committed to providing quality disability support with an extensive range of services tailored to meet the needs of the individual.
Donna, who participates in Samaritans’ disability day program, enjoys the flexibility of choosing her own activities.
“Visiting Ash Island was my favourite. I enjoyed it because I was having fun and we saw lots of animals like crabs,” Donna said.
The program offers both centre- and community-based activities to assist people with a disability to develop independent living skills and to participate in recreational activities.
“We focus on person-centred practices and promote independence by providing a variety of choice in activities such as art, dance, cooking and music for the people we support,” said Virginia Neighbour, Senior Support Worker for Samaritans.
Donna also enjoys the social aspect Samaritans offers.
“I love the building and seeing my friends every day,” Donna said. “I love the carers and the job they do.”
It is the staff and their compassion to put the person they are supporting at the centre of everything they do that makes Samaritans such a special place.
“We provide assistance to the people we support to help them identify and achieve their lifelong goals and aspirations for the future,” Virginia said, “Each day we witness the people we support reach their full potential and enhance their quality of life. The people we support are given the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and lifelong friendships.”
