Boutique Hunter firm Harris Wheeler Lawyers to merge with national mid-tier firm Hall & Wilcox

Merger: Matthew Smith

Merger: Matthew Smith

BOUTIQUE legal firm Harris Wheeler Lawyers, a business that has operated in the Hunter for 125 years, has merged with national mid-tier firm Hall & Wilcox.

Hall & Wilcox managing partner said the move by the firm, which has offices across the country and opened in Newcastle two years ago, was driven by a bid to strengthen its presence in the region.

HWL managing partner Matthew Smith said HWL has become increasingly known for undertaking major commercial and property projects in the Hunter, and with clients pursuing projects outside the region the merger made strategic sense.

With its so-called Smarter Law platform, Mr Smith said Hall & Wilcox would offer clients “exciting new technology solutions and platforms to better service their legal needs”.
