MORE absurd and disgraceful anti-renewable hysteria from the party determined to anchor Australia to the last century. Coalition MP Craig Kelly's claim that people will die this winter and renewable energy is to blame is up there with the his fellow alarmists claiming Whyalla would be wiped off the map and we'd be paying $100 for a Sunday roast. How do these conservative dupes get elected?

IMAGINE the world without mining – no coal, no iron ore, no copper, lead, zinc, aluminium, oil, gas. Where do you stop? Well one thing that stops is civilization as we know it. Everything comes to a shuddering halt. Imagine the outcry from the do-gooders losing their everyday way of life. I think it would be hilarious. Actually potato sacks and caves would become paramount. Our forests would be stripped. I wonder how long we could last? On the upside, carbon emissions will drop, global warming will be a thing of the past and the do-gooders can rejoice.

I FIND it laughable that our Prime Minister thinks he can force giant tech companies like google, Facebook and Apple to hand over encrypted data to Australia over suspected terrorist activity when Apple would not hand over encrypted data to the FBI when a terrorist killed 14 people in San Bernardino, California in 2015.

DON’T let them export you to the mother country. We need your expertise and words of wisdom here Mr Abbott; at least until the next election. I know I speak for many.

AUSTRALIAN citizen Yassmin Abdel-Magied has as much right to free speech as every other citizen. Imagine if Yassmin said Julia Gillard’s father died of shame, Alan Jones made that comment. Imagine if Yassmin said the “stolen generation” was a myth, Andrew Bolt said that. Imagine if Yassmin said that John Howard is a war criminal, members of his own party said that, for his invasion of Iraq, based on American lies, resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocent victims. Yeah. “Lest we forget.”

I BELIEVE Woolworths and Coles are considering doing away with plastic bags. I still have my original green bags used as a substitute, albeit a little the worse for wear. Thinking back I also remember large large brown paper bags (hopefully from cultivated plantations).
