Beach watch

Last of the showers during the morning, with some cleaner waves on offer for today. There is inland fog, so good chance of an early offshore with tide shallow. The swell is straightening up from the south to south-east at 1 to 1.5 metres. Wind is light and variable from the north-west to south. The banks at South Bar and Cliff have benefited from yesterday’s rain, with Merewether lining up better. Try the Alley and Cowrie towards high. Try One Mile at Port Stephens and Dudley, Blacksmiths and Catho to the south. Merewether has erosion. Take care if in for a swim as there are a few rips on lower tides. The water temperature is 17 degrees.
