TWO senior constables have been taken to hospital after a car struck a police vehicle on the Central Coast overnight.
The two officers, a 40-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were headed to a car on fire off Patonga Road when they were struck by a third vehicle about 8.25pm on Thursday.
Paramedics treated the pair before taking them to Gosford Hospital. Police said on Friday they were reported to be in a stable condition.
The 21-year-old man driving the vehicle that collided with the police car was not injured and was to undergo mandatory testing.
The Crash Investigation Unit will examine the accident while Brisbane Water police are investigating the original Patonga Road car fire.
It was extinguished, with no-one in the vehicle.
Inquiries are ongoing.
