NEWCASTLE trainer Paul Perry admits promising filly Deleque faces a hard task at Canterbury today, but it is a gamble that could pay handsome dividends.
If Deleque wins or runs second in the Perfect Vision Stakes (formerly the Reisling Slipper Trial), she will be exempt from the Golden Slipper ballot.
"It is as good a field as you will see in the Golden Slipper," Perry said of today's race for fillies.
"There are some nice races later in the carnival , but you have to give them every chance of making it into the Slipper."
Perry said that Deleque had gone along well since her sixth behind Amelia's Dream in the Silver Slipper.
"She is fitter now after a couple of runs and her work has been good," he said.
