There is nothing as exhilarating as finding yourself face to face with exotic wildlife, and no continent on Earth does wild animals quite like Africa. There is something special about Africa that touches the soul, which might be why Michelle at Jayes Travel just can’t stop going back.
Later this year will be her ninth visit to this remarkable place, which includes taking three escorted tours from Newcastle over the years. She admits, it’s hard to put into words just what it is that keeps drawing her to go back.
“It might be the serenity of sitting a few feet from a snoring lion, or basking in the most remarkable sunsets on the Chobe River.
“Or when you see nature at its most raw - like a leopard hunting it’s prey or the annual migration of the wildebeest across the Mara,” says Michelle.
She isn’t the only one to feel compelled to return, Africa has struck a chord with many of Jayes Travels’ clients too.
“The only thing better than seeing Africa for the first time, is seeing it the next time.
“You never just go to Africa once, it’s the people, the wildlife, the atmosphere and the diversity of landscapes and experiences that means there is always something different to explore,” she adds.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that Africa is too expensive or too far away. In reality, it has something for everyone from budget travelers to luxury tours.
It’s a diverse land with so much to see. Ride the world’s greatest rail journey’s,sip cocktails at the trendy bars of Cape Town or immerse yourself in the history of a country experiencing great change.
Jayes Travel partners with award winning, Africa Safari Co to create amazing experiences throughout the 54 countries of Africa.
Representative Brodie Poole says “The first time you experience Africa is like the first time you fall in love or the first time you taste your favourite food, it is an experience that makes you smile inside and out”
Jayes Travel has two escorted tours in 2018, leaving from Newcastle. One as part of their Jayes Travel Women’s program, which is escorted by Managing Director of Jayes Travel Michelle Barker.
The second is part of the Jayes Travel Experiences program, where you are accompanied by a professional photographer to capture all the memories of your journey.
Michelle says to get the most of this trip of a lifetime, plan early. At popular times, certain lodges or experiences can be booked out a year in advance; and these are things you don’t want to miss out on.
Jayes Travel is hosting a free information session in their office on Thursday August 31. Call 1300 89 1100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to come along and experience the magic of Africa.
