TWO Hunter teachers have been recognised with scholarships from the NSW Premier.

Cessnock West Public School’s Deborah Costa and Hunter School of the Performing Arts teacher Cassandra Portelli were both recognised in different categories.

Ms Costa received the Anika Foundation Youth Depression Awareness award, supporting the study of issues related to depression awareness.

Her proposed study will focus on moderating childhood traumatic stress’ role in the development of youth depression through reparative and resilience projects.

It includes a study tour to the US and the UK.
