BEN Eddy kicked a season-high five goals to lead Nelson Bay to a 62-point win over Killarney Vale at Adelaide Street and secure a place in the Black Diamond AFL finals.

The Marlins entered the clash in fourth spot, but could have been leap-frogged if they lost and had Warners Bay upset Newcastle City.

However, they got the job done, leading at every turn on the way to a resounding 16.15-111 to 7.7-49 win.

Eddy kicked all five of his goals in the second half.

Jayden Rymer and Adam Grinyer were also strong.

At Feighan Oval, Courtney Knight kicked the final two goals as Newcastle City held out a desperate Warners Bay 9.13-67 to 7.6-48,

Abraham. Gibson, Jake Hartikainen and Max Quinlan led the way for the Blues.

Cardiff earned a psychological edge over Terrigal Avoca before their major semi-final clash with a 14.5-89 to 10.11-71 win at Hillsborough Oval.

Tom Yensch was outstanding for the Hawks against a Panthers side which paid the price for inaccurate kicking.
