COAL train services are expected to return to normal on Sunday evening after a Muswellbrook bridge fault clogged the Ulan line for several days.
A routine inspection on Wednesday morning discovered a fault with the structure at Muswellbrook, the Australian Rail Track Corporation confirmed.
“Following further inspections by a structures specialist, we took the decision to conduct immediate essential maintenance works to repair the fault,” the spokesman said.
Services on the Ulan line have been suspended since, with trains due to come back online about 6pm on Sunday.
“Main northern coal operations and passenger services were not affected,” the ARTC spokesman said.
