International sports management entrepreneur and art collector James Erskine will give an address to the Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation Friday night.

Erskine, who lives in Sydney, forged an international reputation decades ago for his skill in negotiating international sporting television rights. His clients, past and present, range from Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Shane Warne, and Greg Norman to Clive James, Michael Parkinson, and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation chairperson Judy Hart says Erskine is a rare combination of a sporting industry figure who also has a great appreciation of art.

Erskine owns the Liverpool Street Gallery in Sydney, located on the ground of his business, SEL (Sports & Entertainment Limited), which he operates with partners. He is an experience art collector with a passion for collecting contemporary art.

The event for foundation members and guests begins at 7pm at Newcastle Art Gallery.
