DETECTIVES are on the hunt for a man who allegedly indecently assaulted a teenage girl on Hamilton’s main street in broad daylight.

Police said the 16-year-old girl was on Beaumont Street shortly after 2.30pm on Saturday when she was indecently assaulted by an older man.

A description of the man suggests he is aged in his 40s and Caucasian in appearance, with long pulled back black hair.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper with white print on the front and camouflage pants.

Hamilton Business Chamber president Nathan Errington said the incident was deeply concerning.

“We’re getting tired of these things happening,” he said. “This is a problem that business owners in Hamilton are facing every day.”

Mr Errington stressed that Hamilton needed funding to reduce anti-social behaviour.

“This is a problem that’s not going to go away,” he said.

Witnesses to Saturday’s incident should phone Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
