DECLAN Clausen is not only Lambton High School's environmental conscience, he is also saving the school a heap of money. The year 11 student, one of this year's Earth Hour ambassadors, has been actively involved in environmental issues since year 8.As the head of the school's Climate Cam for Schools program he has been instrumental in efforts to reduce power consumption and to increase recycling. The initiatives he has helped introduce include turning off lights in rooms that are not in use and shutting down computers at the end of the day. Students are also encouraged to use specially assigned recycling bins.Declan, who is tossing up between careers in environmental engineering and politics, said he expected this year's Earth Hour, to be held at 8.30pm on Saturday, March 28, would be the best yet.
