Mark and Therese Pearce had always admired “Felixstowe”, built circa 1912 and one of the original residences of Cameron’s Hill where Hamilton began.
So when the opportunity came to purchase 201 Denison Street 14 years ago “in a house swap” with a neighbour, the couple did not hesitate.
“We owned a house just over the road and down a little bit and we actually swapped this house with the previous owner, with a little bit of money,” Mr Pearce said.
“Both were federation houses built around the same time. This one was on a bigger block and he wanted to downsize a bit, so it all worked out well.”
After nearly a decade and a half of enjoying the timeless four-bedroom residence set on a 770 square metre block, Mr Pearce said they were now themselves downsizing and “it’s time for its next chapter”.
There have been plenty of aspects he and his wife have adored about the home.
“The size of it and the scale of it,” Mr Pearce said. “It’s a larger scale four-bedroom home. The rooms are all a bit bigger and it has a generous dining room and there are a lot of original features.”
The charming residence with classic return verandah has ornate 11-foot ceilings, picture rails, leadlight features and original fireplaces. All four bedrooms are generous in size and there is separate living and dining areas.
The home is within walking distance of schools and Beaumont Street and will be taken to auction on October 28 with a price guide of $1.3million to $1.43million.
