The National Broadband Network’s move to localise help and education about the NBN will need a big team for the Hunter’s “very many problems”, Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon says.
The NBN announced on Tuesday that Newcastle and Lake Macquarie would have access to a local team tasked with addressing concerns and educating Hunter residents about the NBN.
While Mr Fitzgibbon said he welcomed NBN’s effort to deal with the region’s internet issues, he said the Turnbull Government still wasn’t listening to the community.
“It will need to be a very big team to address our many problems but at least, unlike the government, they have acknowledged we have major issues,” he told the Newcastle Herald.
Almost 144,000 homes and businesses across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local government areas have access to the NBN so far.
