JETS skipper Nigel Boogaard will join an exclusive club on Saturday when he makes his 200th A-League appearance.
Booogard will become only the 23rd player in the competition’s 13-season history to rack up a double ton.
Perhaps appropriately he will do it in Adelaide, where he played the bulk of his career.
After 55 games with Central Coast, he moved to South Australia, where he spent five seasons and appeared in 98 games.
Since returning to his home-town Newcastle, Boogaard has made 46 appearances. The A-League record for most games is held by former Mariners, Perth, Melbourne Victory and Sydney goalkeeper Danny Vukovic, with 278.
Boogaard, 31, has formed an imposing central-defensive pairing this season with another seasoned campaigner in Nikolai Topor-Stanley.
They combined for their first clean sheet in last week’s 3-0 win against Wellington Phoenix.
Jets coach Ernie Merrick will face a tough call this week if Daniel Georgievski (hamstring) is fit to return, given the performance of replacement Jason Hoffman against Wellington.
