One dead, one injured after crash on New England Highway near Scone

A 20-YEAR-OLD Tamworth man is dead and another seriously injured after a head-on crash between a car and a truck in the Upper Hunter. 

The truck and car collided on the New England Highway at Parkville, about 10 kilometers north of Scone, about 8am.

Diversions were in place around the accident – via Liverpool Street, Middlebrook Road and Cressfield Road – with heavy vehicles on stand-by.

The road was reopened a short time after the crash.

A 61-year-old man was flown from the scene by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with reported back injuries.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
