Nothing quite beats the goodness of a home cooked meal, unless of course it’s lovingly made for you by a talented chef.
After new owners, Jess and Pete took to the helm of Cafe Macquarie last April, Belmont locals are reveling in all day breakfasts, fresh house made ingredients and all the warm hospitality you’d expect from family.
While it’s the duo’s first foray into business together, Pete is an established Chef – having completed his apprenticeship at Butlers in Newcastle and Jess is a self confessed people person. The mix, it seems is perfect and has given the cafe a new lease of life and a tasty new menu to boot. Touting their business mantra of ‘real food, good vibes’, the pair have quickly established a loyal following of food fans from young to old in the area and are enjoying every minute of their new found passion.
“I love talking to and meeting people, so I am in my element in the Cafe, it’s great to talk to our customers and get feedback on the changes we’ve made so far,” begins Jess.
With a focus on seasonal fresh produce and home made dishes cooked to order, patrons are savouring Spring dishes like the fresh squid salad, red chilli eggs and the pumpkin and corn fritters. With fresh Crema coffee served all day, or perhaps something sweet and scrumptious for the kids like the naughty but nice Monkey Milkshake (think Tim Tams, fruit smoothie and fresh cream) there’s something for every taste, every day.
With menus changing to suit the season and a team that’s fixed on brightening the days of its customers, it appear that Jess and Pete have the perfect recipe.
