A woman has warned the public to be vigilant, after she was the victim of a brazen bag snatch near Lowlands bowling club in Cooks Hill.

Suzanne Roberts, 59, stopped in Centennial Park on her way home from church last Sunday. As she placed her bag on a table, it was grabbed by a man wearing a hat and a jumper.

“I chased after him, but people in the park didn’t realise what was going on,” she said, adding that her identification, driver’s license and Medicare card had been stolen. “My whole life was in the bag,” she said.

It comes after a rough period for Ms Roberts, which has seen her staying with friends while searching for an affordable place to live.

“Which is another thing, trying to comprehend why me?” she said.

The matter was reported to police, but they have been unable to track down the offender.
